Can I pick up my medication from the pharmacy instead of using delivery?
If you have selected on-demand prescription delivery before your virtual doctor’s visit, it is no longer possible to switch to pharmacy pick-up or change the delivery method after your prescription has been processed.
Why Can’t I Switch to Pharmacy Pick-Up After Choosing Delivery?
- Immediate Processing: Once your doctor issues the prescription and you select on-demand delivery, the medication is sent to the nearest partner pharmacy for immediate processing and dispatch. This quick turnaround ensures you receive your prescription within 1 hour, but it also means the delivery process cannot be paused or modified.
- Streamlined Delivery Workflow: The on-demand delivery system is designed to provide fast and efficient service. Changing the delivery method after the prescription has been processed would disrupt the system and delay fulfillment.
- Regulatory and Safety Requirements: Once the prescription is assigned to a courier for delivery, regulatory guidelines prevent rerouting or returning the medication to a pharmacy for pick-up.
What Are My Options If I Prefer Pharmacy Pick-Up?
If you’d prefer to pick up your medication from a pharmacy:
- Do Not Select the Delivery Option: Before your virtual visit, opt out of on-demand delivery when filling out your reason for the visit in the DrHouse app.
- Choose Your Preferred Pharmacy: Your doctor will send the prescription to the pharmacy of your choice, and you can pick it up at your convenience.
Can I Cancel the Delivery After It’s Been Processed?
No, once the prescription is processed and out for delivery, cancellations are not possible. If you refuse the delivery or are unavailable to receive it, the medication will be destroyed for safety reasons, and refunds are not available.
